The Undergraduate Business Council is the official voice of undergraduate business students at UW–Madison. We represent the student body, connect with administration, and create opportunities for leadership, community, and impact.

  1. Business School Org Fair
    Meet our current members, learn about UBC’s role, and get your questions answered.

  2. Information Session
    Get a deeper look at what we do, the committees you can join, and how you can make an impact.

  3. Application Opens
    Share your experiences, skills, and ideas for the future of the business school.

  4. Application Review
    Our executive board carefully reviews each submission.

  5. 15-Minute Interview
    Selected applicants will meet with two executive members to discuss your interests, leadership style, and fit with UBC.

  6. Final Selection
    Once all interviews are complete, we welcome our newest members into UBC!

What are the requirements to be a member?

All members must:

– Attend 5 of 6 general UBC meetings

– Attend at least 5 UBC events for points *one of which being the governance point

– Remain in good standing with Committee Chair (participation/engagement in committee meetings and events)

– No unexcused absences

What is UBC's structure and where do I fit?

The Undergraduate Business Council (UBC) is led by an executive board and supported by dedicated committees. Our structure ensures that members can focus on the areas they’re most passionate about while working together to improve the student experience in the Wisconsin School of Business.

Leadership

  • President – Oversees the organization, sets vision, and coordinates efforts across all committees.

  • Advisor – Provides guidance, institutional knowledge, and support to the executive board.

Vice Presidents & Committees

When you join UBC, you’ll be part of one of our committees, each led by a Vice President. You can apply to the committee that best matches your skills, values, and interests:

  1. VP of Advocacy

    • Committees:

      • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) – Drive initiatives to foster an inclusive community.

      • Student Outreach – Strengthen connections between students and administration.

  2. VP of Finance

    • Committee:

      • Philanthropy – Lead fundraising efforts and charitable projects.

  3. VP of Marketing

    • Committees:

      • Marketing – Promote UBC events and initiatives.

      • Internal Affairs – Manage internal communications and team engagement.

  4. VP of Operations

    • Coordinates logistics, scheduling, and organizational systems.

  5. VP of Programs

    • Committees:

      • Professional Development – Plan events that enhance students’ career skills.

      • Freshman Engagement – Help first-year business students get involved early.

  6. VP of Student Experience

    • Committees:

      • Mental Health & Wellness – Advocate for student well-being.

      • BBB/Business Week – Organize large-scale community events.

Do I have to pay member dues to join?

No. UBC membership is completely free! Your commitment is your time, ideas, and energy in making a positive impact on our community.

Do I have to be in the business school to join?

No. You can be pre-business, a declared business major, or pursuing a certificate within the Wisconsin School of Business. We welcome anyone connected to the business school who is excited to contribute to our mission.

What is the time commitment?

UBC holds meeting once every other week (twice a month) for 1.5 hours. Outside of that, there are events for points that you can either attend or volunteer for.
